The character played by Kevin Costner in “Yellowstone” is fictional. steve mcbeethe star of the new documentary series “McBee Dynasty: The Real American Cowboy” is the real deal, and his life is dramatic in every way.
“I work a lot, and in Season 4, everyone was like, ‘Oh, there’s this crazy ranch show.’ So I watched ‘Yellowstone,’ yeah,” the 52-year-old said. McBee told the Post.
“I’m divorced and I’m the head of the family, so the boys enjoy it. Some managers and employees are horrible to me. [about being similar to Costner’s character]. There’s a lot of pressure, a lot of things going on, but it’s all real. It’s not for TV. It’s our life. ”
“McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys” will premiere on Monday, March 11 (streaming on Peacock at 11 p.m. in the U.S.). This documentary series follows McBee, owner of McBee Farm and Cattle, which raises thousands of cows on his 40,000-acre property in Gallatin, Missouri.
McBee, who is relatively recently divorced (since 2021), has four sons on screen: business-minded Stephen Jr., 28; Cole He is 23 years old and works in the fields. Cowboy Jesse, 26 years old. And the youngest, 20-year-old Braden, will compete as a jockey to succeed his father.
“It’s very ironic because just last week someone said to me, ‘I know for sure that you inherited $200 million when your grandpa passed away,'” McBee said.
He added that he grew up in “extreme poverty”.
“We lived on potato soup. My father was a construction worker. What he gave me is priceless: a work ethic. But I I started my first business when I was 22 years old, and everything we built was first generation. We had no venture capital, no private equity. We didn’t. It was all our fault. We’re in a lot of debt…I bought our first ground in ’98. I mean, we’re 26 years old and we’re still running. One thing at a time…I just rushed and that’s how I got it done.”
The show also features the romance between the two. Steve Sr., who was recently divorced, was in a relationship with CFO Galina Saltkowska, whose son Steve Jr. appeared on the 2022 Fox reboot of “Joe Millionaire” and is currently in a relationship with him. They continue to have a long-distance relationship. His girlfriend on that show, Kara Jackson.
But for those who think “Yellowstone” is too outlandish, McBee’s life is full of intrigue.
“I saw a young woman [on social media] “I’m so glad we’re doing this show now so we can find all the bodies that the McBee family buried!” I mean, it’s almost comical,” McBee said.
“I had a banker turn down a loan…because they had heard that I was connected to the Kansas City Mafia. Rumors and coffee shop stories are persistent. It’s amazing how people would believe that. .”
Because of all the rumors, McBee Farm and Cattle is “subject to ongoing investigation and ongoing audits,” he said.
“The U.S. Marshals came and claimed we had sprayed the wrong chemical that we couldn’t spray in the summer. They barged into our office and said, ‘We want to see your records right now.’ Masu. I should have said, “Get out of the office!” But we have nothing to hide. We’ve been through all the audits…that was the craziest one. It happens to us every day,” he said.
McBee added that “probably 85 percent” of his neighbors are great.
“But the 15 percent who hate us… [does so] Passionately, for no reason. If you just follow me on Instagram and read 0 It says, “He made all his money from drug dealing!” The FBI is looking for him!” It’s nonstop,” he said.
“But one person can make a call. [agriculture] All over the world we say, “They did this, they did that!” [the investigation] It happens automatically in trying to run a business.
“The struggles that farmers and ranchers are experiencing are real. It’s only 24-7.”
