ICE announced Monday that several undocumented immigrants with violent criminal histories have been captured and detained.

San Francisco Enforcement Elimination Operation (ERO) reported that Syed Mohamed Tusif Mohiuddin, 39, of India, was in the United States illegally after overstaying his visa in 2010.

ERO San Francisco announced that Mr. Mohiuddin entered the United States at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Detroit, Michigan on March 9, 2010 and was unable to leave the country in accordance with the terms of his visa.

On August 19, 2013, Fremont police arrested Mohiuddin on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and criminal damage to property.

The group said Mohiuddin was arrested 12 times in California from 2013 to 2021 for a small number of violent crimes, including assault with serious bodily injury, stalking, hit-and-run, robbery and terroristic intent.

“This arrest shows how seriously we take our commitment to protect our communities from individuals like Mohiuddin,” said Moises Becerra, ERO San Francisco Field Director. “Our law enforcement officers continue to work day and night to ensure our protection and safety from those who seek to harm us.”

ICE said Mohiuddin will remain in ERO custody until his release is processed.

This latest arrest comes after ERO Boston announced the arrest of two more illegal immigrants on Monday.

Among those arrested was a Honduran national wanted for murder and other local assault charges in Honduras.

On February 27, ERO Boston arrested a 23-year-old Honduran national in Providence, Rhode Island.

According to ICE, the suspect is an undocumented fugitive wanted in Honduras on suspicion of murder, has been convicted of assault with a weapon and a felony count of domestic violence, and is currently an active immigration agent in custody. He was released despite his injuries.

“It is extremely concerning that this fugitive is facing serious charges and that despite the presence of active immigration detainees who applied for his detention, he was released back into society by the court. The lawsuit only highlights the importance of why ERO Boston is seeking to apprehend this fugitive. “Work with our community to protect public safety in our region.” ERO Boston said Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons.

ERO Boston announced that the Honduran national first attempted to enter the United States illegally in January 2021, but was deported under the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Title 42 Emergency Health Order. Later that year, he illegally entered the United States from an unknown location without entry, inspection, or parole by U.S. immigration officials.

ICE confirmed that he is being investigated for murder by law enforcement authorities in El Progreso, Yolo state, Honduras.

Officials also announced that a 44-year-old Colombian national and convicted sex offender was arrested in East Boston on February 14th. An ERO Boston deportation officer was found guilty of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years of age or older in a nationwide law enforcement operation that busted 275 non-national sex offenders in December 2022. A Colombian non-citizen was arrested.

“This Colombian sex offender not only broke immigration laws, he also victimized Massachusetts residents,” Lyons said. “We cannot allow threats like this to roam the streets of our New England communities. ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by apprehending and removing threats like this from our neighborhoods. I’ll go.”

U.S. Border Patrol arrested the Colombian noncitizen near San Luis, Arizona in August 2022, served him a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge, and released him on his own recognizance.

Police in Massachusetts arrested him in September 2022 and charged him with indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14.

He pleaded guilty in December 2022, and the court sentenced him to one year of probation.

The immigrants will remain in ICE custody until deportation proceedings take place.
