The Davidson, N.C., Wildcats had an emotional March Madness run with Cinderella running behind Stephen Curry.
But these Wildcats are nothing like that team.
The Wildcats improved to 10-3 in non-conference play with the win over Maryland, then went 5-13 in A-10 play, ending the year with five straight losses and earning the 13th seed in the conference tournament. It became.

The Wolfpack got off to a very promising start to the year, jumping to a 7-4 conference record.
However, they fell apart, losing seven of nine games and falling to the 10th seed in the ACC Tournament.
Fortunately, the Wolfpack will face a lackluster Louisville Cardinals in the first round. The Cardinals have one win on the road this year.
Louisville managed to maintain a close lead against the Pack at Kentucky earlier this season, but lost by six points to 7.5 points. But the Cardinals needed a rare 3-point shooting performance of 8-of-15 (53%) to keep it close.

Without a repeatable performance (which is highly unlikely for a team that shoots 30% from 3-point range), the Cardinals won’t have a good matchup against the Wolfpack.
Louisville utilizes five double-digit scorers in these sets with an isolation and post-heavy offense.
However, the Wolfpack played well-above-average defense against both sets, ranking in the top 60 nationally in isolation allowed PPP (0.78) and post-up allowed PPP (0.77). At 6-foot-9 and 275 pounds, it’s pretty tough to get past DJ Barnes at the rim.
In the first matchup, Louisville scored a total of 13 points on 15 isolation and post-up sets for a pedestrian 0.87 PPP.
On the other hand, North Carolina State also runs a post-up heavy offense behind Barnes and is almost unstoppable with a low block.

Additionally, the Wolfpack relies heavily on quick-moving point guard DJ Horn in pick-and-roll sets. They aren’t very efficient in this set, but that might not be an issue against Louisville.
