In the interview, Noem said her front tooth was broken in a bicycle accident a few years ago and needed to be adjusted. She consulted with Smile Texas via Zoom “many years ago,” she said, but “never had the time and recently had the opportunity to work with Dr. Davis.”
She went on to heap praise on Smile Texas, describing the team as “amazing” and ultimately thanking her for giving her “a smile that makes me proud and confident.”

I think I chose the team here at Smile Texas because they were the best. First of all, I studied a lot of the work they did and talked to a lot of the people who were here, but also because they were very nice. They wanted to make sure I was happy with my smile. I wanted to make sure that not only was the bite right and I liked the shape of the color, but that it was something that would serve me for the rest of my life. Something to be proud of.

Noem explained that politics, the arena in which she is now, has a lot to do with what she says and what she looks like.
When people see me, I want them to hear the words I say. I don’t get distracted by what I wear or how I look or even how I look. I want people to focus on my thoughts and ideas and what we can do to really improve this country. So for me, I think smiling confidently and showing your teeth is something that’s not intrusive and actually appeals to people, it confirms that we’re really focusing on the right points. So it’s helpful. I want to firmly convey that confidence.
The governor added that the condition of his teeth was “better in his mouth.”
She went on to praise Smile Texas for working through her “crazy” schedule and said she ended up crying when she saw her new teeth.
“They came back just seven days later, did the final installation, and the work was done,” she said, adding that she has an uncle who is an orthodontist, and that he always told her that her teeth were “not bad enough.” He added that he remembered saying that.
“I knew my teeth weren’t perfect, but they weren’t bad enough to fix. It’s something I’ve always thought about and hoped that I could work on it someday.” “I was,” she continued.
