There was a time in the not-too-distant past when Patrick Queen had a personal grudge against Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
Queen, a former Ravens linebacker, he told ESPN on Tuesday. Tomlin reportedly agreed to a three-year, $41 million contract, and it didn’t take long for the internet to find Queen’s words to Tomlin at a press conference last October.
Queen was talking about the interaction he had with Tomlin during his rookie year with the Ravens in 2020.
“When I was on their sideline my rookie year, Mike Tomlin was looking at me. [and] yell at me [saying] “You’re not a Raven. You’re not a Raven. You shouldn’t be there. You’re not one of them,” Queen told reporters in October. “So every time I play them, it becomes something personal.”
For the linebacker, it didn’t matter whether Tomlin was making fun of him or not – the exchange stalled.
“I don’t care if he was joking. I don’t care if he was serious,” Queen continued. “After all, I’m your bystander and you’re saying I’m not Raven. That’s kind of disrespectful.”
Queen, 24, totaled 133 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season, making the Pro Bowl and being named second-team All-Pro.
He was selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of LSU.

The Ravens are losing Queen, but they signed veteran running back Derrick Henry to a two-year contract on Tuesday.
Henry has $9 million guaranteed, and his total contract is worth between $16 million and $20 million, depending on his performance with various incentives.
