The SEC Tournament begins Wednesday.
While there is a clear favorite at the top of the odds board, this conference has been one of the most competitive all season and there is plenty of opportunity to make a run for it.
And that’s exactly where I’m putting my money.
At FanDuel Sportsbook, the top-seeded Tennessee Volunteers (+175) are the clear favorites to win the SEC Championship after a dominant regular season, but a little further down the odds board; There are teams that boast similar talent and much greater prize money potential.
The second-seeded Kentucky Wildcats, who have the third-best odds at +400, enter the tournament as one of the hottest teams in college basketball, winning eight of their last 10 games.
These recent games include impressive wins over No. 19 Alabama and No. 12 Auburn, and close losses against No. 17 Gonzaga and LSU.
Kentucky also defeated Tennessee in Saturday’s regular-season finale, but the Vols had already won the regular-season SEC title heading into this contest.
John Calipari’s offense has been nearly unstoppable in recent weeks, giving up 85 points from Tennessee’s vaunted defense and giving up 90 or more points in each of the last four games.
Kentucky has the consensus highest recruiting class this season, and everything seems to be coming together at the right time.

They also draw on the easier side of the bracket – they don’t have to play the Vols or the second-favorite Auburn Tigers (+240) until the championship game.
The Wildcats have a pretty high price tag, but they have the talent to compete with anyone.
Throw a unit or two into Calipari and Co.
Pick: Kentucky Wildcats win SEC Tournament (+400, FanDuel)
