Hunter Biden will not appear at next week’s House Oversight Committee hearing on influence-trafficking allegations and the Biden family’s business dealings, his lawyer said in a letter Wednesday.

Comer invites Hunter Biden and business associates to testify publicly on March 20 amid impeachment inquiry

All four have already testified behind closed doors as part of the impeachment inquiry, but Comer said during the hearing that he will “examine any inconsistencies in the testimony of these witnesses in order to reveal the truth to the American people.”

But on Wednesday, Biden’s attorney Abby Lowell sent a letter to Comer completely condemning the hearing and investigation and refusing his invitation to what she called a “carnival sideshow.”

“First of all, even if the hearing was a legitimate exercise of Congressional power, neither Mr. Biden nor I would be able to attend because there will be a court hearing in California the next day,” Lowell said. “But scheduling conflicts are the least of the problems.”

“This blatant media plot is not proper proceedings and is a clear attempt to throw a Hail Mary pass at the end of the game,” Rowell continued.

Mr. Lowell reminded Mr. Comer of a statement he made in January: “All we need is someone to come to a deposition and that’s it. Deposition.” We just need people to come and we’ll finish this.” There’s no one who wants to put this together more than me. ”

Lowell said his client, the president’s son, “does what you ask and you want to ignore what you say, just like when you announced that the witness could choose to take a deposition.” Ta.

“I must confess that I was surprised by your hasty request,” Lowell wrote. “After a six-hour-plus deposition on February 28, 2024, with the knowledge that your investigation is based on a patchwork of conspiracies spun by convicted liars and indicted Russian spies. , I thought even you would realize that the baseless impeachment process was invalidated.” ”

“Even before Mr. Biden testified, testimony after testimony undermined the central premise of the partisan showpiece,” Rowell said.

“President Biden has done nothing wrong, and even if he has misused the Constitution’s impeachment clause, he has done nothing to warrant further proceedings,” Lowell said.

Lowell added that Hunter Biden’s answers to questions during his deposition “put the final nail in the coffin of a wasted year of misfortune.”

“As Mr. Biden has stated on numerous occasions, backed by accurate references to records held by the committee, his father has never been involved in or profited financially from any of Mr. Biden’s businesses. Never,” Lowell said. “Your claims about wrongdoing by someone are usually taken out of context by some correspondence written by someone other than Mr. Biden, or when you describe Mr. Biden as being in the throes of addiction. it only arises from taking out a word, phrase, or line.”

“In total, the entire House of Sand impeachment inquiry was based on a single isolated document, including a drop-in greeting at a dinner party and a handshake in the lobby in which Biden promoted his support for the World Food Program. It is being built with A conversation at a hotel, one of his colleagues who doesn’t know the difference between “meeting” and “meeting” someone, Biden’s father giving him money to pay for his household expenses, and a loan he took out. Mr. Biden’s uncle is repaying the debt. ”
