A 1-year-old boy has died after being bitten by a dog in Connecticut, police said.
Police spokesman Officer Mark Caruso said in a news release that police were called to a residence in East Hartford where a child had been bitten several times by a dog just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Paramedics performed life-saving measures and transported the boy to the hospital, but the boy died “despite the valiant efforts of medical professionals,” Caruso said.

Caruso said the death is under investigation.

He added that two dogs were removed from the home.
