Liberals, who have historically opposed building walls, suddenly seem to be singing a different tune.
Dave Rubin noticed a shift in perspective.
“Do you feel like a lot of people are obsessed with alarm clocks?” Rubin asked Emily Austin, adding: Maybe we should have guns, maybe we shouldn’t vote Democrat, maybe we shouldn’t open our borders. ”
Austin, who is from New York, noticed this too.
“Remember when ‘build a wall’ was racist? And now everyone’s thinking, ‘Can we build this damn wall?'” Austin told Rubin. “It’s not about excluding others, it’s about them changing the story too much, for example,” he added. It’s about protecting ourselves. ”
As illegal immigrants begin flooding into liberal hotspots like New York City, the idea of protecting ourselves overshadows the narrative that we must help everyone in need.
“It’s not as racist and exclusionary as people want it to be. I think people are starting to realize it’s for their own selfish gain, because now your house is being robbed. And it’s your daughter who’s being harassed on the street,” Austin says. .
“Once it applies to you, it bothers you. It’s easy to talk if you don’t have skin in the game,” she added.
Before Texas Governor Abbott started busing migrants to California, California looked down on him as a racist for not wanting to open its borders. But now they are begging him to stop sending illegal immigrants to them.
“Unfortunately, I think people only open their eyes when they reach the point of insanity,” Austin tells Rubin.
