UConn coach Dan Hurley flips out in effort to get courtside St. John’s fan ejected

The Big East may not be what it used to be, but make no mistake, there are still some wild moments at the Big East Tournament held at Madison Square Garden.

UConn is playing in the Big East title game for the first time since 2011, and getting to the finals was all about fireworks.

The defending national champion Huskies faced St. John’s in the semifinals Friday at MSG, one of the team’s home arenas, and it didn’t take long for Dan Hurley to get hot.

Less than 12 minutes into the first half, Hurley was urging the officials to eject a St. John’s fan sitting courtside from the game.

Hurley told the referees that fans were “screaming in his face” and asking him to “get me out of here.”

“I want that person kicked out.” harley said.

The ordeal happened right after that. St. John’s coach Rick Pitino A technical foul was called. He even ordered offending fans to sit down while yelling at officials himself.

In the end, the fans were not ejected, but they watched as the Johnnys lost 95-90.

Hurley is the son of legendary coach Bob Hurley Sr., who also sat in the front row.

Despite the loss, a trip to the semifinals might be enough for St. John’s to qualify for March Madness. They will learn their fate this Sunday.

Meanwhile, UConn will play Marquette for the conference title. Marquette won the Big East last year but lost in the second round of March Madness, while UW continued its dominant run and won its fifth national championship since 1999.
