A new Pew Research poll shows that a majority of Americans are not satisfied with President Biden describing himself as a “devout Catholic.”

The poll came despite Biden’s description of himself as a “devout Catholic” who attends church regularly. The White House also used the term to describe Biden when defending his aggressive pro-choice stance on abortion.
Biden has had a rocky relationship with the Catholic Church since taking office, with Pope Francis criticizing his views on abortion in July 2021. Francis argued that Biden’s pro-faith and pro-choice views are a sign of “incoherence.”
