A new lawsuit against New York City Mayor Eric Adams alleges that while he worked for the police force in the 1990s, he solicited sexual favors from co-workers in exchange for their cooperation in work-related matters.
Lorna Beach-Matula, who accused Adams, said she was repeatedly removed from promotions and experienced “the resistance that black and female NYPD officers often faced at the time.” Adams was the head of the NYPD’s Transit Guardians division at the time, so she asked him for help.
“Instead of helping Plaintiff receive fair treatment at Defendant Transit, Defendant Adams took advantage of her vulnerabilities, demanded sexual favors in return, sexually assaulted Plaintiff, and claimed that he was clarified that they are not “guardians” as they claimed, but “guardians.” predator,” the complaint states.
Sylvia O. Hines-Radix, an attorney with New York City Corporation Counsel, called the allegations “ridiculous.”

“While we review the complaint, the Mayor completely denies these outrageous allegations and the events described here. We are confident that he will be fully vindicated in court. Furthermore, in 1993, Eric Adams was one of the most prominent public opponents of racial discrimination within the NYPD, which is why it is important to note that he had some influence over civilian promotions. “The lawsuit’s claims that it did so are ridiculous,” she said.
In the fall of 2023, Beach-Matula learned that New York City had passed a law allowing victims of sexual assault to come forward years after the attack, and felt the need to bring Adams’ “conduct” to light, according to the complaint. He said he felt that there was.
She claims Adams offered to resolve her employment issue, but instead drove her alone to a vacant lot and demanded oral sex, which she refused. According to her complaint, he continued to sexually assault her.
When Adams ran for mayor, Beach-Matula said she felt his comments about the campaign were “hypocritical and sanctimonious.”

Beach-Matula said in her lawsuit that Adams originally planned to pick her up and drive her to Coney Island to talk. Once in her car, she realized he was heading toward an area near the Hudson River and became “nervous and scared,” the report said.
“Plaintiff was horrified not only by Defendant Adams’ horrific actions, but also because he knew that, as a police officer, he had at least one loaded gun in his vehicle,” the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Adams exposed himself and begged Beach-Matula to perform oral sex on her and placed his hand on her genitals. When she refused, he masturbated her in front of her, according to her complaint.
Beach-Matula also said Adams told her she needed to get back to work and drove her to a Manhattan subway station to drop her off.
