The Masters, the PGA Tour’s first major tournament of the year, is filled with many traditions, including the reigning champions’ dinner at Augusta National Golf Club.
This year, Jon Rahm is that man, and in three weeks, a select group of Masters-winning golfers will be sitting at the same table at the annual Champions Dinner.
It is customary for the last man to get the coveted green jacket to put together the menu for the feast, and Rahm stayed very close to his tradition in his food choices.

Being Spanish, he opted for a Spanish menu featuring traditional dishes from his home country, specifically the Basque region of northern Spain, where he grew up.
The Masters’ Instagram account posted the full menu for everyone to see on Tuesday. The menu begins with a “tapas and pintxos” portion of small plates to choose from.
Rahm gave the chefs “Ibericos,” cured pork loin made with Iberico ham raised on acorns, “Kistra con patata,” spicy Basque chorizo and potatoes, and “Tortilla,” a traditional Spanish omelet with onions. They plan to serve dishes such as “De Patatas.” And potato confit.

For the first course, golfers will be served “Ensalada de Changoro”, a Basque crab salad with potatoes.

On the main course, golfers can choose from two options: “Tuleton a la Parrilla” or “Rodavaro al Pilpil.” The first option is Basque ribeye steak with Tudela lettuce and piquillo peppers, and the second is turbot and Navarra white asparagus.
And finally, for those with a sweet tooth, Rahm offers Milhojas de Crema y Nata, a fluffy pastry cake with custard and Chantilly cream.
This menu is at the other end of the spectrum compared to the menu that 2022 Masters winner Scottie Scheffler put together last year. He had cheeseburger sliders with American spread, firecracker shrimp, Texas ribeye steak, and warm chocolate chip skillet cookies and ice cream for dessert.
Ram’s menu looks very delicious, but it will be interesting to see what kind of conversation takes place at the table. Rahm was on the PGA Tour last year after defeating LIV Golf member Brooks Koepka, who finished second at Augusta National.

But Rahm left the PGA Tour this year and joined LIV Golf. So while there may be some tension in the air, these golfers have certainly known each other well over the years.
