Michigan Democratic Rep. Dan Kildee admitted Tuesday that his brother was killed, and police arrested his brother’s son and Kildee’s nephew.
Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson stated in a media briefing Police responded to a domestic violence call at a residence near Bart’s Flint neighborhood around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
He said Bart’s situation led the men to a house in the Vienna area, where the murder occurred.
The suspect then fled in the victim’s vehicle and crashed his truck into the couple’s vehicle in Genesee Township. The couple were not seriously injured, but the 27-year-old suspect was taken to Hurley Hospital, where sheriff’s deputies are guarding him.

Swanson told police that the victim’s other son lives in the basement of the house in the Vienna area and that he heard the argument on the first floor. One person was heard yelling, “Get your wallet and keys,” then gunshots were heard. The high-impact crash occurred eight minutes later, Swanson said.
Congressman Kildee issued a short statement regarding the incident.
“Our family is saddened and heartbroken,” he wrote. “There are no words to describe the loss of a beloved brother and family member, especially in such a terrible tragedy. We thank the community for respecting our family’s privacy during this extremely difficult time.”
Genesee County Prosecutor David Layton said the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed yet. He added that once indicted, the suspect could face a number of charges, including open murder, motor vehicle robbery, armed robbery, weapons offenses and motor vehicle traffic violations for the crash.
Swanson on possible motives. just said The suspect may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“Substance abuse is possible,” Swanson said. “The suspect’s behavior could lead anyone to believe that there was some kind of breakdown or other tangle that caused him to become so violent. But the key to this case is that three scenes All in all, it was an act of absolute violence.”
Congressman Kildee previously announced that he would not seek re-election.
