According to a CNN-SSRS poll, as the 2024 presidential general election campaign begins, former President Trump is leading President Biden in Michigan, and the two are in a close race in Pennsylvania.
Trump has an 8-point lead over Biden in the Great Lakes state., The main support comes from young people and independent voters.
According to a poll of registered voters, Mr. Trump’s approval rating remains at 50%, while Mr. Biden has an approval rating of 42% in Michigan, which Mr. Trump won in 2016. However, it was defeated in 2020.
Opinion polls showed that support among women was evenly divided between the two candidates, but that Mr. Trump had a lead among independents and young voters.

TAmong voters under 45, Mr. Rump led Mr. Biden 52% to 37%. He also outperformed Biden among independent voters, 47% to 37%.
Polls show Biden maintains a 21-point lead among voters of color.

But President Trump’s lead is not filled with enthusiasm. Less than half of voters (46%) expressed satisfaction with their choice of candidate.
This statistic is higher among Republicans, with 65% saying they are satisfied with their choice of nominee.
Michigan, a blue state from 1992 to 2012, supported Trump in the 2016 election and won him the Oval Office.

It returned to blue, helped propel Biden to the White House in 2020, and stands out as a key battleground state for candidates heading into 2024.
Pennsylvania voters were even more divided between the candidates, with a 46-46 percent split.
Similar to Michigan, 47% of Pennsylvanians expressed dissatisfaction with the choice of candidate.
The CNN poll collected responses from 1,097 registered Michigan voters online and by phone. SSRS conducted the poll from March 13 to March 18 and had a sampling error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
The Pennsylvania poll surveyed 1,132 registered voters during the same period. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
