Santos asked X on Twitter on Friday. There, he called Republican support for the bill a “shameful sham.”

The Long Islander said the modern Republican Party has no meaning, but accused the party of being disloyal to its voter base.

“The Republican Party continues to lie and deceive voters. I cannot be part of a party that has no remorse, stands for nothing, and stands for everything,” his post said.

Mr. Santos has announced that he plans to run as an independent in New York’s 1st Congressional District to bring America First values to the House of Representatives.
