Republicans Need to Stop Nominating ‘Lunatics’ to Win Elections

FOX News contributor and Washington Post columnist Mark Thiessen said Friday in a “Special Report” that Republicans need to stop nominating “lunatics” to win elections.

Guest host Rich Edson said, “Do we have a few more weeks to choose our speakers?”

“God help us,” Thiessen said. “It’s embarrassing that the House Republican majority is so dysfunctional. I mean, Speaker Johnson didn’t ask for this job. He came forward because he couldn’t elect a replacement for Mr. McCarthy. He’s trying to manage an unruly conference.”

He added: “Republicans need to understand that they control half of the government and are going to control it with one vote.” If you give one vote to half of one branch of government, you cannot impose your will on the entire government. ”

He added, “We also want to cut spending. We want to do all of these things. If you want to do that, there’s an easy way. Let’s win the election. Don’t nominate a lunatic. Let’s get people who can actually win elections. Let’s take back the Senate, let’s take back the White House. But that’s how Biden got spending, so if you want to cut spending, do it. This eternal You can’t do that with confusion.”
