An escaped prisoner who has been on the run in western Pennsylvania since early December was finally captured by authorities as he was leaving Planet Fitness, according to reports. fox news digital.
The Philadelphia U.S. Marshals Service took Isaiah Robert Tillman, 33, into custody Friday in the 3300 block of Aramingo Avenue in Philadelphia.
Tillman was arrested on drug charges and a parole violation and has been on the run since December. After fleeing, he stole a red 2011 Ford F-150.
The prison he escaped from is about 320 miles west of Philadelphia, where Mr. Tillman was finally found on Friday. According to the report, authorities tracked the fugitive as he drove to Planet Fitness in a black BMW.
CBS News report Mr. Tillman was found by authorities in Kensington earlier this week, but authorities did not immediately arrest him, he said.
Investigators with the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force found Tillman again Friday in the 1800 block of East Schiller Street and tracked him to a Planet Fitness store. Around 11 a.m., he was arrested as he was coming out of the gym and taken into custody.
According to the report, U.S. Marshal Robert Clark, acting supervisor of the Eastern Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, said, “This arrest is a sign of the continued efforts of the Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to capture dangerous fugitives.” This is the result of cooperation.”
“The Sheriff’s Office is by far the best in the industry at finding people who don’t want to be found, and this arrest confirms that fact.”
U.S. Marshals said Tillman is currently in custody in Philadelphia and will soon be transported to Blair County to face additional charges.
Just three days after Tillman’s escape, authorities announced they had found a red Ford F-150 similar to the one the inmate allegedly stole. Investigators believe Tillman switched the plates on his vehicle shortly after fleeing.
The stolen vehicle was recovered on December 15th.
Tillman reportedly managed to escape from the prison facility in early December through a ventilation shaft just outside his cell door. separate report.
He reportedly made a rope out of his prison clothes and used it to climb onto a nearby platform. He was eventually able to climb through an unsecured window and onto the roof.
