I went to Ford recently. ranger raptor assault school To test the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor in real off-road conditions in Tooele Valley, Utah.
This experience is free to anyone who purchases a Ranger Raptor (excluding transportation and lodging costs). The aim is to learn what this vehicle is capable of under the guidance of Ford Performance Racing School instructors. Instructors will take you through rock crawling, sidehilling, climbing, and more.
Check out my video review from Ranger Raptor Assault School below. But first, let’s talk about what the Raptor adds to the regular Ford Ranger.
For starters, there’s an improved and strengthened suspension, a more muscular physique, and functional vents in the bonnet.
The word “functional” is important. This truck is designed to win Baja races, so having lots of airflow across the grille to keep your ride cool is a top priority. It also comes with a tow hook (unlike some of its competitors in this category), which is definitely a plus in the kind of terrain this vehicle thrives on.
An active exhaust system lets you run your early morning errands in quiet mode. Of course, there’s also a Normal mode for everyday driving and a Sport mode for when you’re really done tiptoeing. When it’s time to head out into the desert, it’s when I’m feeling good all the way to Baja.
The Ranger Raptor also has some very useful drive modes, including Normal, Off-Road, Baja, Rock Crawl, Sport, Tow, and Slippery. A full skid plate under the vehicle definitely helps in off-road mode.
Steering and suspension are also adjustable.
Under the hood is the same 3-liter EcoBoost V6 engine as the Bronco Raptor, but with slightly less horsepower and torque.
As far as safety goes, the Ranger Raptor comes standard with Ford’s CoPilot 360 suite of driver assistance features, including trailer backup and a 360-degree camera.
Prices start at $57,000. It should be delivered to the dealer now. And remember, this also includes the cost of his 1-day Raptor Ranger Assault School that will make you a better driver. The experience was so enjoyable and valuable that I wonder why other automakers don’t offer this type of training. Toyota Tacoma School, anyone?
Oh, and you can also jump the Raptor Ranger Raptor. It’s nice to do it on someone else’s truck.
