ESPN’s Mike Greenberg made headlines Monday when he said the UW men’s basketball team is an “NBA team.”

Greenberg even asked Get Up co-hosts Jay Williams and Seth Greenberg if the defending national champions could make the NBA playoffs (afterwards, Greenberg joked ).

The Huskies have wiped out March Madness competition dating back to last year, defeating opponents by an average of 22 points in their past eight tournament games.

Williams let his co-hosts down easily by saying, “I can’t say their level of talent is going to make the play-ins possible.” Another, Mr. Greenberg, was a little more harsh: “There’s no chance.”

It’s worth noting that Mike Greenberg is a Northwestern alum. The Huskies defeated their Wildcats 75-58 in the Round of 32 on Sunday. But two former NBA players killed him off.

Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams “Run It Back” on FanDuel TV Former “Get Up” host Michelle Beadle is currently working as a TV personality. Beadle tried to imply that Greenberg wasn’t in the clickbait business, but they weren’t.

Yukon’s Dan Hurley says it’s ‘terrible’ not to have a Big East team in NCAA March

“Yes, that’s right,” Williams said. Parsons added: “He still is.”

“He’s full of S,” Williams said. “As it stands, Greaney, can UW beat the Atlanta Hawks tonight? Can they compete with the Chicago Bulls right now? Can they beat the Miami Heat? They compete for the play-in. In fact, they may not even win an NCAA championship.” A spot in the National Basketball Association. This is crazy.”

“The best players in college aren’t going to play for the Detroit Pistons right now,” Parsons added. The Pistons lost an NBA record 28 straight games earlier this year. “So how on earth can this college basketball team beat these teams competing for a spot in the NBA playoffs? That’s just stupid.”

In Greenberg’s defense, ESPN’s latest mock draft has Huskies star Donovan Clingan going No. 5 overall to the Portland Trail Blazers and Stephon Castle going No. 5 overall to Sacramento in the first round. He will be transferred to the Atlanta Hawks, who own the pick.

“I think the mere fact that we’re having this conversation says it all,” Greenberg noted, but that was the beginning of his argument.

UW, 33-3 overall, will play No. 5 San Diego State in the next round in a rematch of last year’s national championship.
