A Georgia couple is facing child abuse charges after their 9-month-old baby overdosed on fentanyl.
The child’s mother, Rosa Solis Garcia, 37, told deputies Saturday that her son stopped crawling, had blue lips and blue skin after playing with a $20 bill under his pillow. He said it happened. according to To local news outlet WRDW.
Garcia’s boyfriend, Thomas Wright, 41, arrived and began CPR, while Garcia called 911, according to the report.
“Paramedics arrived, administered Narcan to the boy and took him to Augusta University Medical Center, where he tested positive for fentanyl.” according to to WSB-TV, another local station.
Garcia told deputies she thought there might have been something written on the $20 bill that could have caused her son to get sick, the report said.
An arrest warrant obtained by the outlet states that Wright admitted to using drugs at the home. Garcia is also suspected of having fentanyl in her bag along with a cut straw while leaving her son in the care.
The warrant states the two allowed the two to play with tainted money, “which caused the boy to ingest drugs,” according to the report.
“According to inmate booking, both men are charged with second-degree child abuse, and Garcia is also in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” the report states.
