NY store sells its 8th million-dollar winning lotto ticket

An upstate New York store sold its eighth $1 million winning lottery ticket this week, making it perhaps the luckiest store in the entire Empire State.

Smoke 4 Less, a nondescript smoke shop in Newburgh, sold $2 million in tickets this week alone and has had eight winners over the past year and a half. According to ABC7.

A customer who purchased a ticket at the store won $1 million in Monday’s Powerball drawing.

The next day, another customer won $1 million in a Mega Millions drawing, but chose the multiplier option and doubled it to $2 million, the station reported.

Smoke 4 Less’s winning streak has drawn a huge crowd in hopes of becoming the store’s ninth million-dollar winner.

New Yorkers from as far away as Orange County are buying lottery tickets there.

Two friends from Long Island went on a trek hoping for a little luck.

“This place is definitely on fire,” Jack Feely told ABC 7 after driving more than two hours to Smoke 4 Less.

Feeley and friend Bob Acaso said it’s rare to find a winner at a nearby store.

“Nobody can beat me anywhere I go,” Accurso said. “So maybe I should go somewhere else. That’s what I’m doing.”

In neighboring New Jersey, a winning $1.1 billion Mega Millions ticket was sold at a ShopRite in Neptune.

The big win is expected to bring more cash-hungry customers to lottery shops like Smoke 4 Less.

The store is also using its recent winning ticket sales to promote itself.

“From Powerball to Mega Millions, we have made dreams come true for a wide range of lottery players,” the store’s Facebook page says.

Donna Garrison said a friend told her to go to the Lucky Store to buy tickets, the news station said.

“You have to be in it to win,” she said.
