A truck was pulled from the waters of the Patapsco River and another vehicle was left hanging from metal Wednesday following the collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, according to reports.
The development was reported in a Department of Homeland Security memo that a law enforcement official explained to The Associated Press, in which Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said the divers were still under construction work where they were presumed dead underwater. The announcement came after authorities said they were searching for the bodies of six people. “As we speak, the divers are in the water, literally, in pitch black conditions where you can only see a foot or two in front of you,” Moore told Fox News this morning. “Amid cold water temperatures and strong currents…the state’s collective debt of gratitude to these divers and first responders is immeasurable.”
The 985-foot Dali was heading from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Tuesday when it crashed into a bridge pillar as it flew under the Singaporean flag, causing the bridge to collapse.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said it was too early to give a deadline for clearing the 50-foot-deep channel.
Synergy Marine Group, which manages the ship, said the impact occurred while the ship was under the control of one or more pilots, local experts who guide the ship safely into and out of port.

Synergy said in a statement Wednesday that one crew member suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.
The ship is owned by Grace Ocean Private Limited, and Danish shipping giant Maersk announced it had been chartered.

Equasis said Dali was most recently inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard in New York in September, and no defects were detected.
