Scottie Scheffler grew a beard and won back-to-back wins on the PGA Tour. But the eight-time PGA Tour winner’s facial hair didn’t last long.
He showed up with a fresh face ahead of the Texas Children’s Houston Open.
It’s surprising that he lost his beard after winning two consecutive Players Championships and becoming the first player to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
On Wednesday, he was asked about the change as he looks to make it three straight starts.
“it was good [having the beard] “I didn’t have to think about it, but my beard grew so long that it became a job,” Scheffler said. “I got my hair cut last week, so I thought I’d trim it, but I didn’t really know how, so I just shaved it off.”
Some might think that brought him luck, but clearly Scheffler wasn’t attached.
Athletes are known for their superstitions regarding facial hair. Playoff beards in football, basketball, hockey and baseball are huge, but not so much for Scheffler.
largely fans were horrified Scheffler shaved his beard after achieving great success.
Scottie Scheffler and I are not the same size. Because he shaved his beard after winning consecutive tournaments. As long as I’m wearing the shirt, I won’t wash it even if the team wins.

There’s no beard this week, except for Scotty Scheffler’s convincing win in Houston, becoming the first player since Dustin Johnson in 2017 to win three straight on the PGA Tour. If he has an average putting week, he’ll win by more than three strokes. pic.twitter.com/4OxvHPieMu

Beard or not, Scheffler has a chance to make history in the same vein as Tiger Woods. He holds the golf course’s low round record with a 62 and is once again the favorite to win. It would be difficult for him to play poorly without a beard.
If things don’t go well for Scheffler this week, what are the chances he’ll get back on track at Augusta National? Maybe this shave is a temporary change.
But the biggest underlying question of “Beard-gate” is that someone needs to tell me how to do my face. If your former Texas Longhorn wants to grow a beard, you need to know the proper maintenance.
