Basketball fans noticed that McCain had his nails painted Duke blue and white for the tournament.

His fashion statement led to McCain signing a deal with beauty brand Sally Hansen.

McCain announced the deal in a recent TikTok post, calling it “self-care time” while painting his nails.

“I’m sorry if I offended anyone,” he said.

“There’s no particular reason. It helps me not to bite my nails. I went to the salon once and decided to pick a color and thought it looked nice.”

“I know a lot of people are against it. They’re not going to like it. But I’m going to be myself and do what I think is nice.”

McCain said he continues to paint his nails because he played well in games where the colors were present.

“I’m not superstitious like crazy, but I thought it looked nice. I thought it would help me play better,” he said. “So far, it’s worked out well.”
