Eagles legend Jason Kelce may be retired from the NFL, but not from the Philadelphia sports scene.
Kelce and his wife Kylie attended the Phillies vs. Braves game on Saturday, and the Super Bowl-winning center threw out the first pitch alongside former longtime Eagles teammate Fletcher Cox.
Kelce threw to Bryce Harper and Cox threw to Kyle Schwarber.
After the ceremonial pitch, Harper asked Kelce to sign his cleats.
Kelce and Cox, teammates with the Eagles since 2012, retired this offseason after spending their entire careers in Philadelphia.
Both players spent six years as team captains and will forever remain favorites with the football-crazy fan base. Both started in Super Bowl II, which the Eagles won over the New England Patriots, and both started in Super Bowl LVII, which the Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Kelce’s New Heights podcast earlier this month, his brother said he hasn’t felt any different since his retirement so far and still visits the Eagles facility.
“I’m a creature of habit…no different than that,” he said. “I think once organized team activities start, especially once training camp starts and the season starts, it starts to get a little more serious. But after a week, to be honest, not much has changed.”
The Eagles legends were entertained by a high-scoring baseball game, but the game didn’t go the Phillies’ way.
The Braves took the lead early in the first inning with a two-run home run by Ozzie Abbies, but the Phillies countered in the bottom of the first inning with a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single by Bryson Stott.
However, Philadelphia was unable to fight back in the second inning. The Braves regained the lead with a two-run double by Travis d’Arnaud and added on with an RBI single by Jared Kelenic.
Jesse Chavez, who appeared in relief of Max Fried, pitched three innings in relief, allowing just two hits and silencing Phillies batters.
On the other hand, Atlanta’s batting lineup did not cool off and added runs in the 3rd, 6th, and 9th innings.
Philadelphia only scored one more point on the day, losing to the Braves 12-4. Atlanta can finish off an opening series sweep on Sunday.
