Nancy Pelosi Marks César Chávez Day, Trans Visibility Day on Easter Sunday

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) established Easter Sunday as Transgender Visibility Day and Cesar Chavez Day, but California officials plan to celebrate Chavez Day only on Monday, April 1st. be.

Pelosi posted a tweet Sunday praising the late farm worker union organizer and civil rights leader, shortly after posting a message of Easter greetings to Christians across the country.

She then posted a tweet (or “post” to X) in honor of Transgender Visibility Day.

Chavez is to be born March 31, 1927 in Yuma, Arizona. He built his legacy in California, where his family were migrant farm workers and where he became a labor organizer.His birthday is an annual state holiday, but usually observed Monday, April 1st, his birthday is Sunday.

Pelosi’s recognition of Easter Sunday as Cesar Chavez Day comes as President Joe Biden has designated the day as Transgender Visibility Day, one of more than 50 LGBTQIA2S+-themed events each year. He was facing criticism for his recognition.
