Vontae Davis, former NFL cornerback and younger brother of Super Bowl champion tight end Vernon Davis, has died at the age of 35. According to WSVN 7.
Davis’ body was found dead at her grandmother’s home in Southwest Ranches, Florida.
Police told the media that foul play was not suspected.
Davis, a former Illinois State product, was selected by the Dolphins with the 25th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
He spent the first three seasons of his NFL career in Miami and was traded to the Colts before the 2012 NFL season.
Davis was nominated to the Pro Bowl twice during his time in Indianapolis and played throughout the 2017 season.
He signed a one-year contract with the Bills in February 2018, but retired midway through a game in September of the same year.
Colts owner Jim Irsay mourned Davis’ death on Monday. Share an emotional message with X.
“Very saddened to hear of the passing of Vontae Davis. A great man, teammate, and player. My prayers go out to Vontae’s family,” Irsay wrote.
