‘Possible’ Mike Johnson Could Lose Speakership over Ukraine

Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday challenged House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) as speaker over the House’s vote to support Ukraine. He said that there is a possibility of chanting.

Host Kristen Welker said, “Let me ask you a question about the Speaker of the House. You know that some Republicans are against the Speaker of the House moving forward with the Ukraine aid bill. He has no say in this.” Do you think there is a possibility of losing it?”

Bacon said, “It’s possible. I’m not going to deny it. There are one or two people who aren’t team players. They’d rather be in the spotlight and have fun on social media, and actually… There’s a one-seat majority, and once the special election is over, you’ll end up with a three or four-seat majority. That’s three or four or five people, not one. Or two people would make this a minority. I think you’re working with your team. You don’t want to get 100%. 80% is the Ronald Reagan rule, but if you don’t get 100%, you collapse the House. , some people want to make it dysfunctional. I think there are some Democrats who don’t want to see this election, don’t want to vote, and there may be a conflict with the Speaker after the bill is passed. Speaker I hope he wins. He’s doing the right thing. It’s in the national security interest for Ukraine to remain independent.”
