‘All glory to God’: Former wrestler doesn’t let thug get away with physically abusing female Subway employee

On March 22, Gabriel Pizzullo entered the Subway on East Hanna Avenue on Indianapolis’ south side for his usual lunch. He ate a footlong of sweet onion chicken teriyaki; WRTV TV reported.

But Pizzullo said when he approached the counter, he saw something that wasn’t very appetizing. It was alleged that a man had verbally and physically abused a female subway employee.

“He was clearly assaulting me when I walked in.” [the employee] …throw things. You should have seen him spit on her girlfriend,” Pizzullo later told WRTV. “And how I was raised, dude, you don’t do that. From there it was kind of ‘go time.’ ”

When the man turned and walked away from the counter, Pizzullo grabbed him and quickly took him to the store floor, according to surveillance video.

“She didn’t seem able to protect herself…and I was worried that he had left to get something that would harm her…she said he threatened to kill her.” “He said it was,” Pizzullo added to WRTV.

Police said Pizzullo, a former sumo wrestler and football player, was able to restrain the man until police arrived.

“I had been doing martial arts for so long that I was in complete control.” [him]” Pizzullo explained to WRTV. “he [was] He was trying to bite me, but I didn’t mean to hit him. I didn’t want to hurt him too much. I just hugged him, dude. ”

The suspect, Daniel Saunders, was arrested at the scene and charged with manslaughter causing death, the department said, adding that his next hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

“This could have been a very dangerous situation,” district manager Ara Khan told WRTV. “Luckily he was here at the right time.” He thanked Pizzullo for his courage. Told.

Khan told the station, adding that Pizzullo was “absolutely a hero.”

Pizzullo credited the honor with, “Glory be to God. He has always protected me and put me in situations that I could handle. I don’t feel like a hero, but I’m glad I accomplished it.”

Oh, and WRTV said Subway is giving away a free sandwich with every visit to Pizzuro.
