A woman tried to evict squatters because they had moved into her home while she was out of state, but a judge told her that the squatters had moved into her home so she wouldn’t be homeless during the holidays. He said he allowed people to stay in his home.
Terry Boyette told NewsNation that he had just left his Texas home to care for his sick mother in Florida when a neighbor called him and asked if he knew anyone was living in the house. .
Boyette called the police, who told her they needed to start eviction proceedings because the squatters may have been in the house for more than 10 days.
The process took eight months, and when she regained access to her home, she said it had been thoroughly trashed and appliances stolen. She also realizes that her culprits are people she previously hired.
“I asked them to paint and renovate. I was supposed to be off work for about three weeks, so I told them to stop working. Apparently one of them broke in and took drugs. It looks like they decided to lend it to other people who would use it,” Boyette told NewsNation.
“They stole everything from me, from the dining table to the entertainment center,” she added.
“That’s madness.”
To make matters worse, Judge Boyette ruled that when the time came to evict the squatters, even though Mr. Boyette, the owner of the home, would not have a home, He refused to be evicted before Christmas to avoid becoming homeless over the holidays, a judge said.
“She extended the appeal until January because she doesn’t want anyone to be homeless during the holidays. I’m like, I’m going to be homeless during the holidays,” she said. New York Post.
Boyette said she found a cracked pipe in the oven and a hypodermic needle in a drawer.
“This is the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced. It’s crazy,” she added.
in update Boyette said on her TikTok account that her insurance company was trying to avoid paying her claim because she had not filed a police report. She told police she had the company tell her she would not press charges regarding the civil matter.
