Monday night’s Elite Eight game between LSU and Iowa was a big hit among sports bettors.
BetMGM Sportsbook reported that the match was the highest-stakes women’s sports event in the sportsbook’s history.
The contest was also the most bet event of the day on both FanDuel and BetMGM, beating the NBA, MLB, NHL, and all other sports.
LSU vs. Iowa attracted 28 percent more bets on FanDuel than last year’s women’s hoops title game. According to Action Network’s Maria Marino.
The nightcap between UConn and USC was also popular with gamblers, drawing near-record numbers of tickets at several sportsbooks.
“Both games in the Women’s NCAA Tournament last night exceeded all six NBA games in total bets and handles,” said Seamus McGee, trading manager at BetMGM. “LSU vs. Iowa is the most bet on women’s basketball game ever, with UConn vs. USC in the top three. It was a special night.”
Caitlin Clark’s Hawkeyes are always one of the most fashionable teams to bet on this spring.
Nearly a third (33.2 percent) of BetMGM’s tickets are for Iowa to win the national championship, by far the most of any sportsbook.
Clark’s prop bets during the tournament were also popular.
For Monday’s game, more than 70% of bets at BetMGM were on Clark’s scoring, 3-point shooting, rebounding and assist props.

Iowa State is currently the -142 favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook to advance to the title game by defeating the University Huskies in the Final Four.
However, South Carolina remains the favorite to advance to the final four, with the finals set to be decided on Friday.
The Shamcocks are currently -225 to win the title at BetMGM, which is arguably the best odds on the board.
South Carolina is a heavy favorite in the Final Four with an 11.5-point lead over the North Carolina State Wolfpack.
