Nashville police arrest Easter brunch shooting suspect in Kentucky

Metropolitan Nashville Police say they have arrested the gunman suspected of opening fire during Easter Sunday brunch at a restaurant in Tennessee’s capital, killing one person.

Anton Rucker, a 46-year-old convicted felon, was taken into custody after police tracked him to a residence in Princeton, Kentucky.

“He came out and turned himself in without incident. Rucker is incarcerated in Kentucky on a fugitive warrant,” the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department wrote to X.

Rucker was on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted list after the shooting that killed 33-year-old Allen Beachem.

Police said the shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Sunday when Rucker opened fire inside the Roast Salem Town restaurant, striking five people and killing one.

“There was an altercation between two men in Roorsted. Sunday brunch was being served. It was during that time that an altercation occurred and escalated very quickly, and one of the men pulled out a gun and fired several shots. Shots were fired,” Don Aaron said. Metro Police made the announcement at a press conference on Sunday.

Roasted Salem Town later released a statement regarding the shooting.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred in Roasted Salem Town on Easter Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families and those affected by this senseless act of violence. Our thoughts are with everyone affected. We are cooperating with and trusting the authorities as they continue to investigate this heinous crime,” the restaurant wrote in a Facebook post.

According to Fox 17, Rucker has an extensive rap sheet that includes multiple convictions for aggravated assault, eluding police and drug trafficking.

The suspect appears to have opened fire at a coffee shop.

“He has an aggravated assault conviction in Nashville, was arrested on Oct. 31 of last year on a felony drug charge, and last August in Murfreesboro on aggravated assault and gun charges,” Nash said. Bill Police announced.
