The Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans pulled off a surprising trade ahead of the NFL Draft, sending Stefon Diggs to join CJ Stroud in the AFC South. This is a move that both ends an era in Buffalo and transforms the Texans, who were on the precipice of greatness a year ago, into a contender in 2024.
The Bills will receive a second-round pick in exchange for the four-time Pro Bowl receiver.. Full details of the transaction are as follows:
- The Houston Texans will receive: WR Stefon Diggs, 2024 5th round pick, 2024 6th round pick
- The Buffalo Bills will receive: 2025 2nd round pick (via Vikings)
This is a huge, huge pay cut for Buffalo, but nothing more. This pick was originally owned by the Vikings and could be quite expensive depending on their future, but this isn’t a huge return for the recipient of Diggs’ talent.
Diggs has long been the source of trade rumors and speculation that he is disgruntled with the Bills. This gave him a new home. Assuming no sophomore slump from CJ Stroud, the Texans are poised to be one of the best teams in the AFC in 2024.
This was one of the most surprising comebacks in recent memory, and Houston will be even better with the addition of Diggs.
