England secured a 2-0 lead in the ODI series against New Zealand with a 56-run victory in the second match played in Hamilton.
After being sent off for a duck in Monday’s first match, opener Tammy Beaumont bounced back with a spectacular 81-run stand to get England off to a hot start at Seddon Park.
After Maia Bouchier lost her 20th goal to Hannah Rowe, England captain Heather Knight set about constructing a formidable target with Beaumont.
The pair combined for 70 runs until Knight was dismissed by Jess Kerr.
But Beaumont were undaunted and continued to defend their boundaries despite the early dismissals of Nat Cyber Blunt and Alice Capsey. She helped England to a record of 5 wins and 158 losses, but she was eventually sacked by Lowe.
From there, Amy Jones took over the baton and contributed 48 runs off 40 balls as England set a lofty target of 253.
Despite Brooke Halliday’s solid 57 runs and Izzy Gaze’s 47 off 48 balls, the New Zealand batsmen were unable to threaten England’s score and were eventually bowled out for 196.
Siver Brunt led England’s bowlers with three wickets from seven overs.
