Short-term rentals in eclipse path booked solid

Airbnb and other similar short-term rental products are heavily booked in the lead-up to the total solar eclipse that will sweep across North America on Monday.

AirDNA estimates that at least 2,300 cities in the United States, Mexico and Canada that are subject to completeness are on the active list.

Most hotels, short-term rentals, and other options are booked weeks in advance.

Cities with the highest occupancy rates are Oklahoma, New York, Ohio, Arkansas, Indiana, Vermont, and Texas.

Jefferson, Vermont has the highest percentage of properties reserved at 99.2 percent. Buffalo, New York, follows with 98.2 percent.

Elsewhere, more than 95.3 percent of the more than 4,700 properties in Dallas are booked the night before the eclipse, and nearly 87 percent of the nearly 9,600 properties in Austin, Texas, are booked the night before the eclipse.
