Dramatic video footage shows the moment a rare 4.8 magnitude earthquake wreaked havoc on Friday, leaving shocked residents of a New York City apartment building screaming at each other in confusion.
“The floor started shaking!” one person can be heard shouting in the video. Posted by X user @aztecaharlem.
“I thought it was an earthquake!” another resident shouted as the earthquake shook the apartment complex.
“Me too!” a third person shouts back.
The visual footage is less impressive than the audio in the clip, but it pans to the surrounding buildings.
The city, along with the tri-state area, was shaken by the 10:23 a.m. earthquake. This was the most powerful earthquake near the Big Apple in 130 years.
