NXT Stand & Deliver 2024: Trick Williams ends Carmelo Hayes feud; Roxanne Perez regains championship

Trick Williams and Roxanne Perez won big spots at NXT’s Stand and Deliver on WrestleMania 40 Night 1 Saturday afternoon.

Williams’ feud with Carmelo Hayes culminated in a main event match at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. As soon as Williams stepped through the curtain on his way off stage, the more than 18,000 attendees appeared to be in his corner.

It was the first time that two black men appeared in the main event of an NXT premium live event, and the crowd was excited.

Hayes immediately began the attack with numerous high-flying flights. But when Hayes tried to hit a “Nothing But Net” finishing move early, Williams countered. Williams then turned Hayes onto his back and drove him in the face with a spinning boot.

After chairs were introduced to matches, Williams did not hesitate to use them. He took out all his grievances with Hayes. The referee took the chair away from Williams, and as the referee tried to take it away, Hayes gave Williams an opening with a low blow.

Mr. Hayes tried to use the chair again, but it was taken away. Williams took advantage of this and hit a flash knee that bounced off the ropes.

Williams held off Hayes for the win.

Perez attempted to regain the NXT Women’s Championship, a title she technically never lost. For weeks, Perez continued to eliminate anyone who stood in her way to reclaim the title. Lyra Valkyrie wanted to leave Philadelphia as champion.

Perez used an armbar early to treat Valkyria’s injured arm. Valkyrie returned to the match and hit a German suplex on Perez at one point during the match. However, Perez continued to target Valkyrie’s arm and was even able to distract Tatum Paxley.

Toward the end of the match, Perez hit Valkyrie in the crossface, forcing him to tap out.

Perez exited as a two-time NXT Women’s Champion.

No other title changes on the card.
