A Wisconsin woman who poisoned her friend and stole nearly $300,000 was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide for the 2018 crime.
Jesse Kulczewski “screamed loudly” during nearly two hours of testimony in court. statement He entered a not guilty plea Friday in Waukesha County Circuit Court. daily mail report.
In October 2018, the 40-year-old woman gave family friend Lynne Harnan, 62, a water bottle containing a lethal dose of tetrahydrozoline (the main ingredient in Visine eye drops) before staging a crime scene. He was convicted of murder. As suicide.
She then fraudulently paid herself with the victim’s money, draining Hernan’s account of $290,210.
Hernan’s body was discovered by police on October 3 after Kulczewski called emergency services as “unresponsive,” the paper said.
Despite Hernan claiming that she died of suicide or an accidental overdose, she was eventually arrested on July 9, 2019.
She was found guilty of first-degree murder on November 14, 2023.
Judge Jennifer Dorow showed her no mercy at the latest hearing, handing down a lengthy sentence that would only make Kulczewski eligible for release after he serves 30 years in prison.
“It’s terrible to be accused and convicted of murder when I didn’t do it. It won’t bring her back and it won’t make her loss any easier,” said the victim. Kulczewski, who is reported to be a caregiver, sobbed during her testimony.
“You’re holding me accountable for what she did. Those were her decisions, her choices, her actions, no one else’s, not even mine. ”
“I think that’s one of the key factors here, the criteria when you think about not just the seriousness of the crime, but the need to protect the public,” Dorow said. Wisun.
The judge went on to highlight at what age a felon becomes eligible for supervised release.
“Then, barring the theft charges, your age would be close to 70, older than Lynn’s current age. You’re physically older, but 30 years is a pretty big time. I think so,” she said. “But my goal is really 80 points for you. That’s why Counts 2 and 3 will serve the maximum sentence consecutively to Counts 1 and 2.”
The judge added: “When it comes to your willingness to steal and defraud, no one can protect you from you.”
Mr. Hernan’s friend, James Kelliher, issued a powerful and shocking statement.
“Sir, Jesse brutally murdered my friend Lynn Hernan. I want the court to sentence Jesse to life in prison without the possibility of parole. If Wisconsin had the death penalty, I would I will seek the death penalty for you,” he said, according to Court TV.

Kelliher claimed Hernan’s killer also killed several of her pets and took advantage of her financially.
“Jesse had other plans and was researching ways to kill people without getting caught on the internet. I believe Jesse started poisoning Lynn in 2016 and stealing her money and property. Jesse They poisoned Lin like a rodent,” the heartbroken man continued.
He went on to dispute Kruczewski’s claim that Hernan had overdosed.
“Lynn wasn’t a junkie or a coward, that was Jessie. She continued to poison Lynn until she died,” he said, before accusing the convict of “pure evil.”
“…The devil lives inside her,” Kelliher said. “She tried to steal Rin’s identity, but that could never happen due to the simple fact that she was too ugly.”
He went on to say that he hoped she would “rot in hell.”
She is the worst of humanity and a useless human being. She is a known liar, thief, and now a convicted murderer.
Jesse, I hope that when you get to your new home, you will be used and treated like you treated Lynn and passed around like used meat.
Life in prison without parole is the least of your worries. A women’s prison will feel like a Holiday Inn compared to where you’re headed. The devil is waiting for you. I hope you rot in hell.
Kulczewski’s lawyers argued that Hernan would have thought his friend was “insane” to be accused of killing him.
“If Lynn Hernan were there today, she would say, ‘Prosecutor, are you crazy?'” attorney Pablo Galaviz said.
Donna Kushler, also one of Kulczewski’s attorneys, said Hernan gave money to clients “all the time” so there was no reason to steal.
“Giving Jesse money made her happy. Jesse was like a daughter to me,” she claimed.
The convicted murderer’s lawyers argued that Ms. Hernan died from a combination of painkillers, but that was not supported by a medical examiner’s report showing tetrahydrozoline was detected in her system.
