Knicks’ Josh Hart blasts Scott Foster’s decision to eject him

MILWAUKEE — Josh Hart said it was “ridiculous” to be ejected for a head kick in Friday’s game against the Bulls, explaining that it was beyond his physical ability to perform that type of maneuver.

“Obviously I’m off balance. My legs are up even before I see him,” Hart said. “But give credit to [referee] Scott Foster thought I was so athletic that I could make the split-second decision to kick him. ”

Hart was stripped by Javonte Green late in the first quarter and was in the air, swinging his leg and hitting a Bulls player in the face.

Hart then threw to Foster and the Knicks were taken down in a rebounding battle that cost them.

Hart suggested there were discrepancies between what Foster told him and his explanation to pool reporters after the game, but the veteran official said Flagrant 2’s “intent is not the criterion.”

“Obviously it sucks — it’s out of my control. I think it probably should have been an accident,” Hart said. “But I don’t know what he was thinking, because he said later, ‘Oh, the intent doesn’t matter.'” …But then he told me that I saw him and kicked him. told me. This clearly implies that I meant it. I don’t know what his thought process was. Because it was two different stories. So that’s what it is. ”

Hart suggested that the call for Flagrant 2 should be decided by the NBA office in Secaucus to establish consistency.

“When you say I saw him and kicked him, it seems like you made the decision to do that. I don’t think you even had time to make that decision. So I thought that was weird. That rule doesn’t make sense. I don’t know if it’s up to scratch, so if it’s a ruling that would result in a player being ejected from the game, I hope the on-court referee, who may have other involvement in the game, can change it. To the people of Secaucus, only a handful of people are left behind. Isaiah. [Hartenstein] He was decapitated two games before that. [by OKC’s Kenrich Williams] That was Flagrant 1. ”

Bucks manager Doc Rivers called Hart “the heart of the team,” and the player didn’t dispute the experts’ opinion.

“He’s a doctor, so I guess so,” Hart said.

Bojan Bogdanovic remained active Sunday after being added late to the injury report due to a sprained left wrist sustained in a fall during Friday’s loss to the Bulls.

Since joining the Knicks in a trade two months ago, Bogdanovic has fallen into a slump, averaging 10.4 points (about half what he did before signing from Detroit) but shooting 42 percent from the field and only making treys. It was 35.3%.

Bogdanovic had surgery on his other wrist, his shooting wrist, in 2020 with the Jazz, ending what was perhaps the best season of his career.

OG Anunoby pitched a shutout in his first game back against the Knicks and did not put his name on the injury report for the first time on March 14th, the second time since January.

The forward returned from a nine-game absence Friday due to a surgically repaired elbow injury and scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting in 29 minutes.

Anunoby said he was under a one-minute limit for an unspecified period of time.

“I don’t know how long that will last,” he said. “Please listen to the medical advice.”
