Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) said in an interview Sunday that he thought it was “just fitting” to name a federal prison after former President Trump, adding: “I might visit him soon.” Ta.
“Well, there’s a nice federal prison just down the road from Mar-a-Lago. And there are currently 88 criminal charges pending, plus about 50 in two major civil penalty cases that have already been resolved. I thought about the guy who cost a billion dollars,” Connolly told MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart.
“If Republicans really want to honor Donald Trump, I think the most appropriate way to do it is to name a federal prison that they may soon visit after Donald J. Trump,” Connolly said. ” he added.

President Trump is facing federal charges in Florida on charges of knowingly retaining national defense information and attempting to obstruct the government’s recovery of records after his loss in the 2020 presidential election.
The former president was also charged in a full RICO indictment in Georgia and in federal court in Washington, D.C., on charges of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. He is also expected to be indicted in a hush money case in New York for allegedly falsifying his business records during the 2016 presidential election.
