Missing Ga. girl, 7, found in Puerto Rico, mom charged with custodial interference

A 7-year-old girl who went missing from Georgia has been found in Puerto Rico, more than a week after she was allegedly abducted by her non-custodial mother.

Stella Brennan Salter had been missing since March 29, when she and her mother, children’s book author Wendy Salter, 46, were last seen in Metter, about 105 miles from Savannah.

The two were found at a store in Puerto Rico around noon Saturday, according to the FBI office in Atlanta.

The mother was charged with interstate interference with child custody and currently faces up to five years in prison. WJCL reported.

Officials say the child has been reunited with her father, who has legal custody.

Lyons police and the FBI plan to extradite Salter to Toombs County, where he is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Salter is a longtime school counselor and author of children’s books listed on Amazon.

“Wife and mother of two daughters. Wendy comes from a family of generations of farmers; she and her family have lived on a farm that has been around for five generations,” her bio says.

“Wendy has been a member of the Society of Children’s Book Authors and Illustrators since 2012,” it added.
