Famed Photographer Quits Ford Foundation over Liz Cheney Rejection

Renowned photographer David Hume Kennerly resigned from the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation on Tuesday after the organization repeatedly rejected requests for Democratic ally Liz Cheney to accept the foundation’s top award. .

Kennerly claimed the foundation did so out of fear of retribution from former President Donald Trump due to his potential re-election. Trump leads Biden in key battleground states and in national polls.

Mr. Kennerly, a Pulitzer Prize-winning political photographer, claimed that board members prevented him from receiving the Gerald R. Ford Medal of Merit, citing fellow board member Mr. Cheney’s lack of “guts.” .

Kennerly said the trustees rejected Cheney three times and did not respect Cheney’s alleged “courage, determination and integrity,” choosing instead to aid and abet “threats.” did. I have written Basics:

Those who rejected Liz now join the many “good Republicans” who are aiding and abetting our 45th president in ignoring the real threat he poses to our country. America is fortunate to have Liz Cheney still on the front lines of freedom, vigorously defending our Constitution and our democratic way of life. But you won’t get her back. Because you failed to respect Liz’s courage, determination, and integrity, you end up retreating and crouching behind a wall of silence.

If I can’t do that, I cannot in good conscience continue to serve on the board of an organization that doesn’t display the kind of guts that Gerald R. Ford did. This is now a place where leadership is threatened by the agitators who created and propagated the greatest crisis our nation has faced since the Civil War.

During her time in Congress, Cheney became a controversial figure for allying herself with House Democrats and the Anti-Trump January 6th Committee.

In spring 2021, House Republicans removed Cheney as Speaker of the Republican House of Representatives. via Vote of no confidence. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), an ardent supporter of Trump and America First policies, replaced her as chair.

Cheney did not want to lose her powerful position in the Republican House leadership. In an effort to protect his position, Cheney reportedly met “off the record” with Fox News director Paul Ryan to corroborate rumors of his firing. Breitbart News reported that Bill Kristol, editor-in-chief of the Bulwark newspaper, “recognized that this meeting was perhaps President Cheney’s last ditch effort to remain in power.”

From 2017 to 2020, Cheney’s net worth may have ballooned from an estimated $7 million to more than $44 million, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics and her most recent financial disclosure forms.
