Gov. Chris Sununu (R-New Hampshire) said Thursday on CNN’s “The Read” that abortion “could become a bigger issue for Democrats” in the November election.
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “Mr. Trump said earlier in the week that abortion should be left up to each state, and then he went on to basically ban abortions in Arizona and ban abortions for six weeks in Florida.” Do you understand Donald Trump’s position on this issue and how and how much he fears this issue will hurt the Republican Party? Do you have?”
Sununu said, “Let me just say this: I actually think it could be a bigger problem for Democrats. It’s true. I actually agree with the former president’s position, and this is now It’s a state issue.”
She added: “President Trump says he’s not even going to talk about national bans or national issues. ‘Hey, Joe Biden is 9 months old, okay?’ Is it okay too? ” Now Biden must answer that. ”
Tapper asked, “What is a nine-month abortion?” I have never heard of anyone having an abortion one day before the due date. Republicans talk about this all the time. ”
“That’s going to be the question,” Sununu said.
“But I’ve never heard of anything like that happening,” Tapper said.
Sununu said, “Yeah, but I’m just saying, let’s say they actually ended up on the debate stage. Trump would say, ‘Look, I’ll leave it to the states.’ Hey, Joe Biden, how many? Is 2 weeks enough? ‘And now Biden is going to have to come up with an answer to whatever that number is, but Trump is saying he’s going to defer that to the states. ”
