Scottie Scheffler ‘underprepared’ for parenthood

Scottie Scheffler is taking on a new role as a father this week at Augusta National.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday after shooting a 6-under 66 in the opening round of the 2024 Masters, the current No. 1 golfer in the world said that his wife Meredith is set to give birth to the couple’s first child. She answered candidly about her impending child-rearing. I’m having a baby later this month.

“People ask how are we preparing for a baby, and well, I feel like we’re a little bit underprepared. We’re not ready for nursery and we’ve had a lot of trouble in recent years. We’ve had some issues going on in our house this week, and I think that’s the exciting part. I think we’re definitely underprepared to be parents.” Scheffler said:.

Ahead of this year’s major, where Scheffler is considered the favorite, it was reported that the 2022 Masters champion would leave Augusta early if Meredith goes into labor.

Scheffler, 27, said Thursday that if that happens, he’s “ready to go.”

“I can’t say I’m too worried about her giving birth. We haven’t seen any early signs yet, but pregnancy is a strange thing and it can happen at any time. But yeah… “I keep the lines of communication open so she can reach out to me if she needs to,” he said.

Bryson DeChambeau is currently at the top of the leaderboard with a 7-under 65.
