Dan Abrams dishes on cameo in ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ finale

Like millions of viewers across the country, NewsNation anchor Dan Abrams has always been a casual fan of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

So when the cable news veteran and legal analyst received a call from his agent asking him to appear on the show’s final season, he recognized the show’s continued popularity and was thrilled.

“I thought, ‘This could be interesting and fun,’ so I asked to see the script,” Abrams told The Hill about how the cameo came about. “When the season started, I thought he might come early in the season.” [protagonist Larry David] I got arrested…and then the season finale happened and random people who were huge fans of Curve started coming up to me and saying they saw me in the finale. ”

Abrams will appear alongside MSNBC host Chris Hayes in the final episode of the long-running series, which centers on the fictional criminal trial David faces.

Throughout the show’s final season, David faced criminal charges for allegedly forcing Georgia voters to drink water while they waited in line to vote.

Today, Mr. Abrams, host of NewsNation’s prime-time show “Dan Abrams Live,” appeared on screen from his New York studio and said that Mr. Abrams, the Seinfeld co-creator, “violates Georgia’s new voting law. and he views this as partisan.” It is draconian and unconstitutional. ”

“How this plays out could have a huge impact on the next election,” Abrams said on the show.

Abrams said he and his team recorded the cameo “pretty quickly” after reviewing the script they were sent, adding that the show’s producers encouraged them to improvise as much as they wanted.

His appearance on this week’s “Curve” finale wasn’t Abram’s first cameo through film and television. A longtime television news personality, he has also appeared in films such as “Nothing But the Truth” and “Zoolander 2.”

“Curve,” as it is affectionately called by many fans of the show, is one of HBO’s most successful sitcoms, running for 12 seasons over more than 20 years.

The final episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” drew an estimated 1.1 million viewers. According to the Hollywood Reporter.

Abrams said his appearance on the popular show will provide further exposure for NewsNation, a network that launches in 2021 and, like The Hill, is owned by Nexstar Media Group.

“Whenever networks are the go-to when people are talking about news coverage, we want to add NewsNation to the conversation,” he said. “It’s a piece of the puzzle. This doesn’t fundamentally change NewsNation’s fortunes, but I think it’s always helpful to have more people talking about NewsNation, not just in things like this.”
