‘Civil War’ hits box office with a bang; ‘Godzilla’ to hit $150M milestone

“Civil War” was a huge hit at the box office.

The dystopian film about the Second Civil War raked in $10.8 million in its opening day on Friday, marking the highest opening day gross for production company A24. According to Box Office Mojo.

The impressive premiere put it on track for a roughly $26 million debut. Variety reported.

A $50 million movie directed by Alex Garland, It follows a team of journalists embedded in the military. It’s a race against time to reach Washington DC before the rebels storm the White House.

Johnny Oleksinski of the Post called the film “a pointless, torturous, overrated film”, criticizing the script for its terrible writing and flat acting.

Following “Civil War” is “Godzilla x Kong: New Empire,” which topped the charts when it was released two weeks ago. It grossed $4 million on Friday.
