Former President Trump officially announced his support for Pennsylvania Republican Dave McCormick, showing his support for the Senate candidate who did not receive the former president’s blessing when he ran for the Senate last time.
President Trump voiced his support Saturday during a rally in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania.
“Tonight, I am officially endorsing David McCormick,” the former president said at the rally. “He wants to run a good ship. He’s a smart guy, a very successful guy. He’s given up a lot to do this.”
The former president urged his supporters to vote for McCormick, a former hedge fund executive, because incumbent Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania) “doesn’t do anything terrible.”
“And I’ll tell you, he’s the Republican candidate. David McCormick, Casey hasn’t done a terrible thing, so go out and vote for him,” Casey said. Trump said as his supporters booed in response. “I’m telling you, he’s not doing anything. So go out and vote for him.”
McCormick ran for Pennsylvania’s Senate in 2022, but lost in the primary against TV personality Mehmet Oz, who secured Trump’s support. Oz ultimately lost the general election to the current senator. John Fetterman (Dem. of Pennsylvania).
Mr. McCormick is running unopposed in the April 23 Republican primary and is scheduled to face Mr. Casey in November.
The former CEO of hedge fund Bridgewater Associates thanked President Trump for his support.
“Thank you, President Trump.” Posted The reaction to this announcement was Saturday’s X. “Together, we will deliver big wins for Pennsylvania and America in November.”
Compared to 2022, the relationship between the two appears to have improved.

At a May 2022 rally where he stumbled in support of Oz, President Trump said McCormick was “not MAGA.”
“I don’t know David very well, and he may be a nice guy, but he’s not MAGA,” Trump said. “He’s not MAGA. He’s more Toomey than MAGA.”
mccormick approved Trump took office in early March after the former president had already established himself as the clear Republican presidential candidate.
