Abortion ‘Is on the Ballot in All 50 States’

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “abortion is on the ballot in all 50 states for a potential nationwide abortion ban.” Ta.

Host Kristen Welker said, “Former President Trump held a rally last night. He didn’t address the issue of abortion, but earlier this week he pointed out that abortion laws are left up to each state. How concerned are you that his efforts to cross the line could effectively weaken this issue for Democrats?”

“He has lied to the people of this country over and over again. The decision of whether and when to have a child should only be made by a woman, the people she loves and trusts, and her doctor,” Whitmer said. “Politicians need to get out of the way, and the American people have told us repeatedly that that’s exactly what they expect.”

She added, “Talking to people in my state and across the country, abortion isn’t just on the ballot in places like Arizona and Florida, it’s on the ballot in all 50 states.” It’s clear that the former president has said many times that he would sign a national abortion ban, which would undo all the progress we’ve made in states like Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky. There is a very real possibility that this will be on all of our ballots in this presidential election.
