Appearing on “Sunday Morning Futures” last month, the Georgia congressman explained the rationale behind the motion.

“If Speaker Johnson really wanted to secure the border as he promised all of us, he would have told Chuck Schumer, he would promise the American people, ‘Nothing will happen until the border bill and funding bill becomes HR 2. We’re not going to pass a government funding bill either.’ In that, or the Laken Riley Act, or at least some of the measures in that, he completely failed to do that,” she said.

Mr. Johnson has previously said he understands Ms. Greene’s concerns and recently announced plans to contact her.

He told Bartiromo on Sunday that Greene was “unaware” that House Republicans were fighting on the border issue.

“We work on this issue every day. We passed HR 2, a comprehensive border security package, at the beginning of this Congress. It was sitting on Chuck Schumer’s desk. “We passed all the resolutions. We passed these bills out of the House. And they get blocked in the Senate.”

In the meantime, Mr Johnson insists that maintaining party unity remains a priority for Republicans to ensure victory in November.

“Our party needs to stay united. We need to go out and say how we’re changing, not just what we’re against, but what we’re for.” “We need to tell the American people what our agenda is and how we’re going to turn this country around.” I’m absolutely bullish on the election cycle. That’s what I intend to do,” he added.
